Our new Lodge really is fishing in style. Sadies Lodge itself is fully electric with many double electric sockets, outside mood lighting to the front decked area and a light at the rear. Located Approximately 20m away is Sadies very own new shower and w/c. The new shower room is for sole use with Sadies Lodge only and again is fully insulated with double glazed window and door. The new shower room is, as you would expect, fully equipped with shower cubicle, toilet, sink and electric heater along with a clothes aired so even if it’s cold outside you can be sure of a lovely, cosey warm shower which can also be used as a drying room. There is also a sink with drainer which has been installed so that any washing up of utensils etc can be done in comfort. Sadie’s Lodge can be booked online.
There are only 2 swims available for bivvied anglers on The Mead, although we have 5 in total 3 of these are taken by The Main Lodge, Sadie’s Pod and Martha’s Pod. The swims on the lake are large, clean and purpose built and all command a large piece of the lake to fish.
The first swim is The Oak Swim as its name suggests has a huge, old imposing mighty oak tree set in its centre with a large bivvied area to its front. There are 2 exits point where you can position your rods to set your traps to ambush any passing or patrolling carp. To your left there is an overhanging tree which is always a good point to start and directly to your front you have virtually the whole of one side of the central Island to fish to and to your right in the spring/summer there is a large lily bed to set a trap or two for mooching carp. The whole of The Oak swim is reed lined and again has many topographical features as well as under water features like gravel humps and troughs to fish to.
The next swim on the lake for bivvies is The Point Swim. This swim is located on the far bank at the rear end of the lake and has produced some fantastic results for anglers as well as throwing up the new lake record of 37.4oz. To the left of the swim is a large lily bed and coming our from the bank you will find gravel bars and a few troughs and holes which are always a good starting point to fish to. To the right of the swim you will find a very intimate bay with overhanging trees and a wall of reeds all fantastic fish holding areas and it is this area where the current lake record was caught from. Located in this bay is a silt bed full of blood worm and all other naturals like fresh water shrimp and fresh water snails which the carp absolutely gorge on at times throughout the year. One of my aerators is located here also and this represents a magnet for the carp when it is on. To the front of The Point swim you also have the rear point of the island which is yours to fish to and again you will always be in with a shout fishing at this location. The Point swim again commands a large piece of the lake to fish and always surprises our anglers with the results they can achieve. The swim itself is all reed lined either side making it very intimate and quiet and like all our other swims is very clean under foot. As with all the swims on the lake never ignore the margins as they produce many of The Meads hippo’s.
So all in all Olivemead Lake is a true carp anglers water. Constructed in the late 1960′s and drained down and totally re-constructed in 2008, Olivemead Lake has fast become The UK’s Number 1 specimen Carp Holiday Venue. You can now book a bivvy slot on-line and pay using our secure pay-pal account. (book a swim on-line)
You are welcome to bring well behaved dogs with you but if walking around lake with them please ensure they are kept on a lead and all dog mess must be cleaned up and disposed of appropriately.
